Update on COVID-19

BWUH Ltd. are aware of the concerns regarding a number of recorded cases of COVID-19 in Northern Ireland and understand the disruption already caused by the virus across the UK and Ireland.

We are in uncharted times as the impact of the COVID-19 virus continues to escalate and the Senior Management Team at BWUH Ltd. have been meeting daily to put contingency plans in place and ensure that we follow the relevant government guidelines.

  • On 10 March 2020 the World Health Organisation formally described COVID-19 as a pandemic and the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) updated its guidelines advising countries to act early to be effective.
  • On 12 March 2020 the Irish Government announced measures including that indoor  gatherings of 100 people or more and outdoor  gatherings of more than 500 people should be cancelled.
  • On 16 March 2020 a Special Meeting was held and Elected Members of Belfast City Council agreed to close ICC Belfast in response to COVID-19. BWUH Senior Management have agreed these measures will remain in place until a further directive is received from Government.

Events will be rescheduled to future dates where possible.

This is not a decision that has been taken lightly and has been done in order to protect public health. Belfast City Council and BWUH Senior Management have been in consultation daily as the situation has developed and the measures implemented are in response to business demand and forecasts as well as client and customer sentiment.

The welfare of our teams and our customers is our priority at this very difficult time and we would urge you to follow the official Government guidance to keep you, your families and communities safe throughout this very challenging time.
